Safety Floors

Why are safety floors so important?  According to the HSE, in the UK one person dies every week from a slip, trip or fall and every 25 minutes someone breaks or fractures a bone at work.

Tarkett’s Safetred collection is a true sustainable safety floor solution.  The first Safetred floor was manufactured in the 1970's by pioneering British company Marley Flooring which became part of the Tarkett family in 2004. It continues to be made in Lenham, Kent; conforming to HSE Guidelines & EN 13875.

Safetred floors are manufactured with either aluminium oxide or silicon carbide which runs through the floor itself, this ensures it’s slip resistant for the entire lifetime of the floor and not just until the surface layer wears away.

Most safety floors are problematic in terms of recycling but through innovation and investment, the entire Safetred collection can be recycled and re-used. The collection is produced using 42% recycled content, is phthalate free and has VOC levels 10 times lower than European standards.
