Tarkett Announced as Key Note Speaker for Design in Mental Health Conference

08th April 2019

Join Tarkett on the 21st May at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry, for our Key Note Speech at the Design in Mental Health Conference.

Starting at 13:45 in the Dementia theatre , come and explore the ways design can help improve the lives of people living with dementia through the use of virtual reality and the world’s first and only evidence-based dementia filter.

Learn about the importance of colour, contrast, pattern and placement when creating or adapting spaces which can compensate for perceptual and cognitive impairments alongside the principles of good dementia design for supporting spaces that reduce resident anxiety and prolong independence for as long as medically possible.

Knowing the rules of good dementia design and then learning how to apply them to interior spaces is necessary in achieving positive clinical outcomes such as reduced anxiety, easier navigation and the reduction of slips, trips and falls.

You will leave this Key Note Speech understanding where improvements can be made to current facilities, often at low cost, but also how to identify materials and colour palettes moving forward that work both holistically and in isolation.

Combining 30 years of evidence based research with state of the art technology, VR-EP (Virtual Reality Empathy Platform) allows users to convey, experience and understand environments through the eyes of someone living with dementia. It takes designing with empathy to another level.

We look forward to seeing you there.
