Background

Located in Worcestershire, Tyre Hill House is a specialist Family Assessment Centre dedicated to supporting care-experienced parents using a strength-based therapeutic approach. This innovative centre aims to empower parents, equipping them with the skills and confidence needed to safely care for their children over the long term. With a clear mission to keep families together when it serves the best interests of the child, Tyre Hill House fosters a nurturing environment where families can thrive.

The Vision

The vision for Tyre Hill House was to create a safe, warm, and homely environment that would foster healing and growth for families. Collaborating with Elaine Lewis Designs, the renovation aimed to enhance the property’s functionality as a safe and durable haven while ensuring that it reflected the values of honesty, respect, collaboration, and compassion. Hand-painted murals and artwork by Kate Bond, an expert in surface design and bespoke murals, brought the natural beauty of the outdoors inside. To complement these design elements, LVT flooring that mimicked the look of real wood and carpet that presented organic patterns and textures would be installed. Together, these thoughtful and sustainable design choices would support the centre’s mission of providing a comforting space for families during their parenting assessments.

Why Tarkett?

A crucial aspect of creating this supportive atmosphere would be the careful selection of materials used throughout the centre, including the flooring. The choice of flooring would not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of the space but would also play a vital role in ensuring safety, comfort, and accessibility for families. By prioritising high-quality, hardwearing, and eco-friendly materials, Tyre Hill House could reinforce its commitment to providing a welcoming and secure environment that promotes well-being and positive family interactions. Tarkett was selected for this project because of its strong reputation in the flooring industry and its dedication to sustainability and innovative design, all of which were in line with the Tyre Hill House project vision.

Products Used

Tarkett provided a variety of flooring solutions for the renovation of Tyre Hill House, effectively balancing aesthetic appeal and functional performance. The kitchen/dining area, main hall, playroom, multipurpose rooms, and staff workspaces on the ground floor were furnished with Authentics Rigid LVT in Delicate Oak Almond. This flooring not only enhances the beauty of the spaces with its elegant and hyper-realistic wood design but also offers durability and easy installation, making it perfect for these high-traffic areas. In the lounge, recyclable DESSO Linon 2015 introduced warmth and comfort, creating an inviting atmosphere for relaxation and social interaction. The sensory room utilised Safetred Ion Linen in Mint, which provides a softer, textured finish essential for promoting relaxation. Its slip-resistant R10 grip provides a high level of protection, making it an ideal choice for environments where comfort and security are paramount.

On the first floor, more LVT in the same Delicate Oak Almond design was selected for the family apartments, maintaining a cohesive look between floors while delivering the same benefits of durability and aesthetic appeal. The first-floor landing and staircase featured DESSO AirMaster®, known for its health and well-being benefits—AirMaster is proven to be eight times more effective in capturing and retaining fine dust than smooth flooring solutions (PM10) and four times more effective than standard carpet solutions (PM10)—and delicate colour palette and design, contributing to an improved indoor environment. Finally, the laundry room was equipped with the beautiful and timeless Safetred Ion Linen in Light Grey, which ensures optimal safety with its sustainable slip-resistant surface, while also being easy to clean and maintain, making it perfect for a functional space.
