Beauty of Circularity
Closing the loop, everyday
Our Commitment
At Tarkett, the Beauty of Circularity inspires our commitment to closing the loop — driving us to design products that are made to be remade.
It is a cycle that brings us back to where we began: in Tarkett Human-Conscious Design, our commitment to creating flooring that is good for people and the planet. And to do it every day.
As a global manufacturer, we believe we have a responsibility to do more with less. To design, produce, sell, and recycle in a way that generates less carbon and waste while contributing to greater comfort, better health, and increased well-being.Â
Our Approach to Circularity
Our approach to circularity focuses on three key areas: Design, designing products to live multiple lives, thinking about their the end-of-life scenario from the start; Materials, choosing materials that contribute to our health and wellbeing, while minimizing the use of virgin raw materials; and Circular Journey, taking responsibility for the full life cycle of our products, ensuring they are collected and recycled through a take-back and recycling program.

Design
Rooted in Cradle-to-Cradle principles, all our design decisions start at the end to ensure the circularity of our products.  While designing for functionality and aesthetic appeal, we also design with the product's end of life in mind – for the multiple long lives our products will live.
Carpet Tiles
Truly circular, our DESSO carpets are made of two main components — yarn and EcoBase backing — that come apart and are recycled into new carpet tiles, again and again.
Homogeneous Vinyl
Post-consumer homogeneous material is collected, granulated, and recycled to create new flooring - saving resources, reducing emissions, and closing the loop.
Linoleum
Made with up to 97% responsibly sourced natural materials, using the best ingredients for people’s health and the environment, and recycled into raw materials for the next generation of flooring.
Materials
We are committed to using materials that contribute to human and environmental health and well-being. To limit the use of virgin raw materials, we cooperate closely with partner companies across industries, actively recovering valuable materials otherwise destined for waste.

Carpet Tiles
We incorporate calcium carbonate, a by-product from the Dutch drinking water industry, and pine rosin, otherwise destined for waste from the Scandinavian paper industry, into our carpets.
Homogeneous Vinyl
As well as recycling 100% of reclaimed post-consumer flooring, we assess all of our ingredients according to Cradle-to-Cradle principles.
Linoleum
Made from natural, renewable, and abundant ingredients, we also recover materials otherwise destined for waste — including cork from the Sardinian wine industry.
Circular Journey
We recognise that we are responsible for the full life cycle of every material we work with.
Our pioneering take-back and recycling programme, ReStart®, makes it possible to close the loop with the help of our network of partners, enabling us to reclaim and recycle materials for the next generation of flooring
Carpet Tiles
With the help of our network partners, we recycle separated yarn and backing in our carpet recycling centre in the Netherlands without loss of quality, all the while complying with stringent health and environmental standards.Â
Homogeneous Vinyl
Working with a network of partners to reclaim installation off-cuts and post-use material, our homogeneous vinyl flooring is returned to our factory, crushed into granules, and used in the next generation of flooring.
Linoleum
With the help of our network of partners, installation off-cuts and post-use linoleum are returned to our factory in Narni, processed, and ground into recycled linoleum powder that re-enters production.
 Â
Circularity is a collaborative effort, and we cannot do it alone. Tarkett works with industry partners, scientific institutions, and government bodies to deliver tangible proof of our environmental achievements as we build a zero-waste future.
But we also share these accomplishments with our customers and suppliers, who choose to work with us to join the loop, every step of the way.
Transparency & Certifications
At Tarkett, our commitment to sustainability grounded in a culture of transparency — ensuring that every claim we make is backed by third-party certifications and verified data. From Cradle to Cradle®, Material Health Statements (MHS) to Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) and ISO standards, we provide the information you need to make informed, responsible choices.
