Tarkett Wins Product of the Year at 2024 Mix Awards

28th June 2024

Celebrating outstanding design and innovative achievements in the commercial design industry, the Mix Awards recognised Tarkett's DESSO AirMaster® as Product of the Year in the flooring category. The award was presented at the 2024 Mix Awards ceremony held in London, UK, on 27 June 2024, where Tarkett also received a nomination for Manufacturer of the Year.

"DESSO AirMaster is a shining example of our commitment to developing innovative flooring solutions that not only perform exceptionally well but also prioritise environmental responsibility," said Mikael Persson, Head of Marketing for the UK & Ireland at Tarkett. "With its patented technology that captures and retains fine dust four times more effectively than standard carpet and its impressively low circular carbon footprint, DESSO AirMaster is truly a game-changer in the industry."

DESSO AirMaster® embodies a blend of innovative technology, exceptional design, and a strong emphasis on sustainability. The modular carpet tiles, available in three distinct textures—Classic, Earth, and Sphere—offer designers greater flexibility and creative possibilities. The collection, with its wide range of neutral and accent colours, can be used to create striking, harmonious environments that promote health and well-being.

Our commitment to sustainability is evident in the collection, which is Cradle to Cradle Certified® Silver and features regenerated ECONYL® nylon yarn and a new and improved DESSO EcoBase® backing. The updated recipe features a bio-based ingredient that replaces a core component previously derived from petroleum-based materials, enabling us to achieve less than 1kg of CO2 per m2 over the entire life cycle. The AirMaster Classic, Earth, and Sphere carpet tiles are 100% recyclable and have impressively lower Circular Carbon Footprints of 0.81kg CO2/m2 (vs. 1.36kg), 0.25kg CO2/m2 (vs. 0.88kg), and 0.66kg CO2/m2 (vs. 1.12kg), respectively.

Additionally, we partnered with BAUX, a leading company in sustainable acoustic sound-absorbing products for walls and ceilings, to integrate their acoustic wood wool interior products with our fine dust-reducing flooring technology. The collaboration resulted in a custom colour line that allows walls and floors to flawlessly match, creating a harmonious working environment that promotes well-being.

"At Tarkett, we believe that circularity is not just about the materials we use but about the beauty in their reuse," added Mikael Persson. "This updated collection is a testament to our dedication to designing products that enhance both human and environmental well-being, and we are thrilled to have this recognised by the prestigious Mix Awards."
