Carpet tiles are also relatively quick and easy to install with minimal cutting loss and the tiles are easy to replace (in case of dirt and stains). Two innovations in carpet in the office highlighted

To improve indoor air quality and acoustics, we highlight two innovations in particular, namely our DESSO AirMaster® and SoundMaster®.

DESSO AirMaster for better indoor air quality

If we consider that we spend about 90% of our time indoors, it is very important that the indoor air is as pure as possible. The DESSO AirMaster collections have been specially developed to improve indoor air quality. For example, carpet tiles from the AirMaster collections are many times more effective at absorbing fine dust than standard carpet floor solutions.
DESSO AirMaster® has been tested in the laboratory of the independent German test institute GUI, which specializes in analysing the air quality of indoor and outdoor climates. That is where the superior filtering function of the carpet is established. During the tests, a certain amount of fine dust is blown into a simulation room, which is fitted with a specific floor (flat floor, standard carpet or DESSO AirMaster®). The simulation room is then left alone so that the particulate matter can settle on the floor. After a certain time, the airflow in the room is resumed, simulating someone entering the room or opening a door. Then the reduction of the particulate matter concentration in the air is measured.

DESSO AirMaster® is the first product in the world to be certified with GUI Gold Plus label

Based on these test results, DESSO AirMaster® is the first product in the world to be certified with a GUI Gold logo* followed by the GUI Gold Plus label in 2015. The Gold Plus label was awarded for high performance on three other test criteria:
- Suitability for allergy sufferers
- High dust-binding capacity
- Low volatile organic compound (VOC) emission properties.

DESSO SoundMaster for better acoustics

In addition, almost all DESSO carpet tiles are available with a SoundMaster backing. SoundMaster backing improves sound quality and acoustics in the office. Carpet generally reduces the impact of sound by between 20 and 30 decibels. DESSO SoundMaster achieves an improvement in sound absorption performance of up to +0.15 (αw)3, equivalent to an improvement of up to +100% compared to standard carpet designs (αw value between 0.15 and 0.20). In addition, it offers an even more comfortable feel underfoot than standard carpet and the DESSO SoundMaster is a clear example of up-cycling with its 80% recycled content from used PET bottles.

Our DESSO carpet tiles are 100% recyclable

At Tarkett, DESSO carpets are designed in such a way that they can be recycled with minimal effort. Tarkett is therefore also proud of its ReStart ® collection program and the recently opened Carpet Recycle Center .

Recycling carpet tiles with EcoBase backing and ECONYL® yarn provides up to 84 percent more CO2 savings compared to incineration. This ground breaking development takes us one step further in the field of recycling and Tarkett is (proudly) contributing more and more to a sustainable, circular economy.
